7up w/ Yolanda Adams

The Gospel Guru caught up with Yolanda Adams for a quick 7up session. This woman needs no introduction; she’s sold millions of albums and won multiple awards!
Yolanda recently released her new album “Becoming,” which was exclusively available at Wal-Mart. “Becoming” debuted at No. 3 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Album chart, if you don’t have the album make sure you get it! Also, Yolanda has launched her own clothing line called “Yolanda Adams Collection,” you can check it out at YolandaAdamsCollection.com
Last but not least it’s Yolanda’s birth month!! Her birthday is on the 27th, be sure to stop by twitter(@YolandaLive) and wish her a happy birthday next Saturday. Now sit back, relax, and get a bit of 7up with Yolanda Adams.
1. Describe Yolanda Adams in three words. I’m a happy Christian mother.
2. How do you remain relevant in the music industry? You just make good music!
3. What was your inspiration for Becoming? My inspiration was a five-year hiatus so that I could build the morning show, and once we got a great deal we did the music. The music is pretty much a journaling of how I live my life.
4. What was your most memorable experience in creating Becoming? The most memorable experience was getting the music together and writing all of the lyrics myself.
5. Your album was available exclusively at Wal-Mart, how did that business venture come about? That’s where our deal is from. Actually, it was me trying to get my turkey burger into their store and they asked about what I was doing musically, and offered me a deal.
6. Who are some artists/producers that you would like to collaborate with in the future? Oh wow, probably Stevie Wonder, Tramaine Hawkins, Nancy Wilson, and something with The Caravans.
7. Being a successful gospel artist, how do you define success? Just longevity, and being able to do what you love to do for as long as you possibly can. Success is not just selling a million albums; we’ve done that already. Success is, as you mentioned earlier being relevant to the time, speaking to people’s heart and hoping it will change their life.
