The Gospel Guru caught up with the 1st Lady of Praise & Worship, Dr. Judith Christie McAllister. It’s been a while since we’ve heard from her, but she’s back and ready to Sound The Trumpet! Dr. McAllister’s new album, “Sound The Trumpet” is in stores and online today, you definitely want to check it out! Judith McAllister fans will not be disappointed with this album, I think it’s safe to say that it was worth the wait. Now sit back, relax, and get a bit of 7up with Judith Christie McAllister.
- Describe Dr. Judith Christie McAllister in three words. I’m “Focused On Ministry.”
- How do you remain relevant in the music industry? In all sincerity and with all humility, I do not focus on being relevant, although I certainly understand it’s importance! I focus on what I believe the Father is saying in the earth, realizing that if iI take what He is saying and translate those words and thoughts of God to music, the relevance will remain.
- What was your inspiration for Sound The Trumpet? I Corinthians 14:8 – If the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself for battle – This scripture stood out one day while reading my Word and God began to deal with me about the state of the Body of Christ, in that there are many instances in which we do not live up to the standard of holiness and righteousness the Father desires us to. “Sound the Trumpet” has to do with allowing the process of God to sanctify ones’ life, in order for the sound of God to be heard through the individual. In this last day, there MUST be an ascent to holiness…. the world is waiting to hear a distinction, a difference, between what we are and what we are supposed to be. How can the world know the truth, if they cannot hear it and how can they hear, if our sound is unclear?
- What was your most memorable experience in creating Sound The Trumpet? Working with some of the most anointed, incredible and talented singers and musicians from both the East and West Coast. Being able to pull of a band of 2 Drummers, 2 Bass players, 2 Lead Guitarists, A horn section, and 12 singers all singing and playing at the same time, was a momentous event for me.
- How was your experience with producer Michael Bereal for this project? Michael Bereal is such an incredible mind. I believe the world has yet to really know who he is. Having the opportunity to work with him again was like hand in glove, so natural and befitting. We complement each other in our production styles. Where he is weak, I am strong, where I am weak, he is strong. I believe we will enjoy many more musical involvements in the future.
- Who are some other artists/producers you would like to collaborate with in the future? There are so many of my family of artists and producers that I would like the opportunity to work with, to name a few, Richard Smallwood, Asaph Ward, Aaron Lindsey, Fred Hammond, Kurt Carr, Stephen Hurd, Steve Lawrence, Kevin Bond, Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans and the list goes on……
- Being the First Lady of Praise and Worship, how do you define or determine success? In the ministry of Praise & Worship, it is important at the end of the day to be able to sense the smile of the Father upon your life. This, is all that matters to me. My ONLY endeavor is to do the Father’s will; and if that means being unpopular, it’s ok. For me, success is being able to say that one has completed their assignment with excellence and has fulfilled the purpose for which the assignment was bestowed upon the individual in the first place.
